DEVI STOTRAMS - the powerhouse of positive energy

Stotram is a sanskrit term which means 'hymn of praise'. It is a poetic composition on a form of divinity which is meant to be sung. Devi Stotrams are dedicated to the Divine Mother. Stotrams are a magical way to connect to the unseen power that takes care of us and the world.

A popular stotram that is chanted on all the Navaratri days is Lalita Sahasranamam. Lalita means Divine Mother and Sahasranamam means thousand names. It is considered auspicious to chant thousand names of the Divine Mother on every friday. It brings peace, clarity and prosperity in the lives of people. Homes where Lalita Sahasranamam is chanted, never experience any shortage of basic necessities of life. It purifies the whole atmosphere and fills the person with positive energy.
Lalita Sahasranamam is from Brahmand Purana and dwells on her different aspects and qualities.



Devi Kavacham is another popular stotram that can be sung or heard everyday. Devi means Divine Mother and Kavacham means armour. Listening to the names of Devi or Divine Mother that makes an armour around our body and protects us as every name of the Devi has some quality and energy and is related to different parts of the body. Devi Kavacham is a set of 61 shlokas from Markandeya Purana.

Argala Stotram glorifies Goddess Durga's victory over demons. It is one of the most beautiful prayers of Goddess Durga. It a prayer where devotee asks for blessings for the winning attitude, eternal fame, spiritual growth, great personality and happiness in life. Divine Mother is gentle in nature but as Ma Durga, she destroys darkness and delusions. Argala Stotram is a part of Devi Mahatmyam composed by Rishi Markandeya.




Annapurna Stotram is sung in praise of the Goddess of food Ma Annapurneshwari. Anna means food and purna means complete, together Annapurna literally means 'one whose is full with food'. An incarnation of Goddess Parvati, she holds a jewelled vessel containing food in one hand and a golden spoon in the other hand to distribute food to people. It is said that her vessel never becomes empty and she can serve unlimited number of people. Her devotees never suffer from starvation. Annapurna Stotram consists of set of 12 shlokas and is written by Adi Shankaracharya.



Meenakshi Pancharatnam is dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi Amman, an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. She is sister of Lord Vishnu and divine consort of Lord Shiva. This stotram glorifies the resplendent beauty of the Goddess, who is even worshipped by the goddess of speech and goddess of wealth. She is the bestower of all desires and a manifestation of sacred knowledge. She enchants the world and is the underlying force in all the objects. Meenakshi Pancharatnam has a set of 5 shlokas and is composed by Adi Shankaracharya.




Ardhanareeshwar Stotram reminds us that Shiva is a tattva and is beyond gender. Ardha means half, Nari means woman and Ishwar means Lord, together it literally means lord who is half woman. Ardhanareeshwar is composed of Shiva, the unmanifest and Shakti, the manifest in one body. Shiva is the formless and Shakti is the form. Shiva is the consciousness and Shakti is the energy. In iconography, Ardhanareeshwar is depicted as half male and half female, split down in the middle. Chanting Ardhanareeshwar stotram bestows a happy and prosperous family life. Ardhanareeshwar Stotram is collection of 9 shlokas written by Adi Shankaracharya.

  2. Invocation of the Divine Mother brings out the innate strength that lies within us. Our scriptures have provided us with multiple strotams to pick what intuitively attracts us and calms our mind
